Cleanliness and infection control

100% clean record against hospital-acquired infections

We take infection prevention and control extremely seriously, and understanding patients’ concerns about nasty superbugs. We only deal with scheduled care and have robust measures in place, such as following NHS England best practice guidelines about swabbing relevant at risk patients, to ensure everyone is protected against the likes of C.Difficile and MRSA.

Our patient-led assessments of the care environment (PLACE) scores, which see patients rate us on various aspects of our service, highlight the cleanliness of our hospital too, with a rating of 100%.

Our service is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), England’s independent regulator of health and adult social care. Speedy rehabilitation and a shorter stay

Getting you back to you, sooner

We believe that the sooner you can start your rehabilitation after surgery, the better. Our procedures are designed to give you a better quality of life, and we want to make sure that you can begin enjoying it as soon as possible. Our team of clinicians practice the Enhanced Recovery Pathway (ERP); which is a modern evidence-based approach that helps people recover more quickly after having major surgery.

Your stay can be significantly shorter thanks to our ERP, helping patients get back to the comfort of their own homes sooner. The early mobilisation associated with ERP also reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and infections. Read more about ERP and the benefits here.

Our Patient Advice Line, 0117 906 1900, gives patients the opportunity to speak with our clinicians about any post-operative concerns they might have; this is another way we ensure safe and successful recovery.

We even have a physiotherapy mobile app, Pocket Physio, with videos of simple but effective exercises that patients can do at home to help them prepare for and recover from orthopaedic surgery. Our Pocket Physio app is available for most devices.

Friends and family rating

100% of patients would recommend our hospital

The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) was created to help hospitals like us understand whether their patients are happy with the service provided, or whether improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way for patients to give their views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.

The FFT has been rolled out across most NHS services and more than 25 million pieces of patient feedback have been submitted since its launch in 2013. Our recent results show that 100% of patients would recommend our service to their friends and family. Learn more about FFT here.

 Essential maintenance work on Bromley Heath Viaduct

Essential road works are taking place on Bromley Heath Viaduct from 24 July 2017 for approximately 33 weeks.
